Our Favorite Winter Video

You can't ride bikes ALL the time, get out in the snow!

I have a lot of friends living here in Utah that are bummed when winter comes around because they can’t ride bikes anymore… I look at it a little different, I’m excited for that day to come!

You already know that we love mountain biking, pretty much all aspects of it from XC to Bike Park and everything in between. But there’s another part of our lives that is equally important, the part that gives balance to our love for mountain biking, and that’s winter sports. Growing up in Kentucky I loved snow but we only got a few storms a winter. When I was 12 years old my grandparents took my family on a ski trip to Colorado and it changed everything when I saw how big and cool the mountains are, and from then on my life was focused on getting out west as soon as possible.

Spring summer and fall I’m on my bike almost every day, riding at home and traveling. I really do love it more than anything, but I’m also dreaming about winter the whole time. Not only are skiing and snowboarding super fun, they also give me a break from the bike and make me look forward to spring riding when the snow finally starts to melt. It gives me year round motivation always making the most of the current season and looking forward to the next. I feel lucky that my kids have also fallen in love with winter and summer sports and so they share the same feelings that I have regarding the seasons.

This is a video I made last winter from our amazing winter trip to a backcountry yurt to go skiing and snowboarding, and a bit of snowmobiling as well! It was really nice to get off the grid and away from phones and tv’s to spend quality time with each other and explore the mountains. I highly recommend something like this to anyone who can make it happen, these are the experiences we’ll never forget as a family.

The funny thing about this video is that it’s the least viewed video I’ve made on our youtube channel in the last several years, but everyone that watches it seems to enjoy it. This is part of the reason why we’ll be growing what we do here on Substack, since it’s not algorithm based, if you signed up to see what we post here, it’s gonna show up in your inbox and then the choice is at least in your hands whether or not you watch it. So with that being said, thanks for subscribing here on Substack, we really appreciate the support! Let us know what you’d like to see and hear more of, and we’ll keep it coming. Enjoy the video and enjoy your winter!
